iPad Trouble

I love my iPad.  Seriously.  I love it SO much.  I bring it with me everywhere and it's my favorite little accessory.  I can do so many great things on it and it's helpful and oh so versatile.

Problem.  I keep missing people's birthdays because of the facebook app.  You have to go through so many steps to see the lists of birthdays, and I am just too used to seeing them on the sidebar that I am missing birthdays!  (sorry!).

Other problem.  There is no blogger app.  And when I use blogger on my iPad, it always publishes strange.  Bizarre.

Tips for using blogger on iPad?

Regardless, I LOVE IT! BUY ONE!

#21: Technology is both challenging, fabulous, and frustrating.  It's scary to think of how much I rely on it, and how upset I would be if I didn't have access to all of the technological things I use.

Orientation

I feel like I've been away from the blogging world for awhile, though it really hasn't been all that long.  Since my last post, I've been to Kentucky, have started graduate school and have been adjusting to life as a student, employee, and intern.

Last week, at orientation, the faculty, dean and administrators stressed "self care".  Self care is basically the things you do for YOU; whether it be exercise, journaling, blogging, friend time, sleep, etc.  In a field like social work it is really easy to get burned out, overwhelmed and completely exhausted.  I'm working, currently, on figuring out what I need.  What is it that I require to function my best?

Orientation as a whole was quite drawn out and not all that informative.  For those familiarized with the university (things like ctools, wolverine access, etc) it wasn't incredibly valuable.  That being said, I loved meeting people and hearing the interests of all of the faculty.  It was also helpful to meet people in my specific concentration area.  It's always nice to see familiar faces in the hallways and in the classrooms.

I  will post more about grad school, courses, and my developing self care activities later, but for now, know that my life is in complete transition, and I am walking gingerly each day!

NEW CAMERA

It's true; I bought a new camera!! I had a Canon Powershot for 6 years...and I loved it. I took it everywhere, have taken thousands of pictures with it and was absolutely devastated when it broke.  (Actually it still took pictures but the screen only worked to play pictures, you couldn't see what you were about to photograph.)

I know you're dying to find out what kind of camera I got.  Well I tell you the story...

sexy new camera!
I went to OPCC on Sunday and laid out for a couple hours before heading off to Best Buy.  I walked in hoping to be talked out of buying the $400 S95 (of course a Canon...I only use Canon's).  I quickly found out that they don't even keep S95's in stock because they're hard to get a hold of.  My requirements for the camera were great zoom, resolution, light capture, and LOTS of settings/modes.  A camera almost half the price was just the one for me!  The price difference results not from zoom or resolution (megapixels) quality but from the fact that the S95 has the best lense in the industry.  My new camera...again a Powershot 300, is incredible.  And I'm so excited to put some of its incredible pictures on this bloggy blog!
